Our unique Vinay counter chair is hand-carved from mango wood with beautifully woven jute panelling on the seat and back, adding both detail and comfort. Generously yet elegantly proportioned, it brings a warm and textured aesthetic to a bar or kitchen setting, but would look equally at home in a covered outdoor bar area. A relaxed piece whose craftsmanship reveals sophistication through its simplicity. Please note, a dining chair and counter stool is also available in the range.
The framework for this piece is made from mango wood, which we love for its natural variations in the grain. A by-product of mango farming, mango trees are initially grown for their fruit, and harvested over a number of years, then once the trees have stopped bearing fruit, they are cut down to allow farmers to plant more trees. Selling the waste material also provides the farmers with a supplementary income. The panelling is woven from jute, a great natural material we love to use as it is a fast-growing, rain-fed crop that has little need for fertilisers or pesticides. It is a natural vegetable fibre that can be spun into strong and durable threads, perfect for weaving into our chair designs.
Wipe surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth to remove dust and moisture. Mild soap and water can be used for cleaning but take care not to use excess water as this may damage the finish. Always wipe in the direction of the wood grain. ? ? Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials as this may damage the finish. Please do not soak the Jute of the chair, we recommend wiping with a dry cloth and only spot clean where needed.
