In the spirit of finding new uses for existing materials, each piece of wood in this piece has been reclaimed and repurposed from Indian ceiling beams, then sanded down, cut to size and finished with a white wash to unify the overall look while still allowing natural variations between wood types to tell their origin story.

Design Story

Rustic, sturdy and thoughtfully designed as a versatile and hard-working stand alone kitchen unit, our Tivu butcher's block uses reclaimed wooden ceiling beams from India where they are repurposed and handcrafted to create this unique and timeless piece. Sanded and lightly finished with a white wash, the mixed woods are harmonised in appearance yet still allow for subtle variations in tone and grain to shine through. Two shelves, two drawers and 4 iron hooks offer multiple storage options to keep a kitchen thoroughly organised, while lending it a laidback farmhouse aesthetic. Castors are included and can be added to the piece by our nkuku fitters on delivery if desired.

How It's Made
Care Instructions

No two pieces will be the same. The weathered tone and imperfections are part of the beauty of this product. Rough textures, knots, splits in the grain add to its rustic charm.

Wipe surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth to remove dust and moisture. Mild soap and water can be used for cleaning but take care not to use excess water as this may damage the finish.

Always wipe with the grain taking extra precaution over the heavy textured surfaces which may on occasion splinter.

Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials as these may damage the wood.

Avoid placing wet items directly on to the surface. Use coasters and mats for protection.

Clean up spills immediately to prevent damage from liquids or staining. Soak up spills with a dry paper cloth. Oil must wiped off immediately. Wipe with a damp lint free cloth and dry with a soft cloth.
